Afghan Girl II.
With no apologies to Steve Mc Curry. (My girl was not Photoshopped.)
The microcosm is one of my favorite photography devices. I lift the obscure up to be pleasing eye candy. Art is full of almost unnoticed subsidiary gems. But when given the visual spotlight, these back benchers can rock.
This quirky stylization also doubles as a solid portrait. My street portraits are spontaneous and they are often anthropomorphic rather than human. Think about mannequins in particular. Achieving an effective visual presentation is more important than utilizing a specific life form. (Weegee, 1944).
